So I've been battling a cough for the past couple weeks, and hunted through it pretty good last weekend. Managaing onlynto scare one deer off by my hacking. You guys have any super secret recipes to knock a cough out? What do y'all do when you have a cough. I'm contemplating not even going for fear a scary a big buck, but I only have limited days to hunt and I don't want them miss out.

So I've heard this before do you mix the honey in with the shot or do you chase with honey?

Mix the honey in with the whiskey. I use around 1 shot of whiskey and a teaspoon of honey.

I may be mistaken but I think that stuff has an opiate in it. If that's the case I would call it quits on the entire season before I risked ANY exposure to ANY opiate unless I was in intolerable pain. Be careful.

Codiene does have an opiate in it why would you avoid it? I'm not going to become addicted to cough syrup.

Hey it's your life but I wonder how many people who wound up addicted to opiates ever had any clue that that was what was going to happen before they took it the first time.

The stuff just scares me. I haven't been able to hire a plumber for that last 2 years because not a single one of them has been able to pass a drug test. Now in the interest of full disclosure I haven't really been looking for one but I at least talk to and often interview every one of them that contacts me looking for work. I'm hyper sensitive to it because I feel like it's something that I have no latitude on because it's a residential service company and if you can't pass a drug screen there is zero chance I will turn you loose inside someone's house.

Look I don't want to derail the thread but I'd try everything else before I took opiates for a cough. That's just me though, you're a big boy.

I've taken codiene before, and pain killers recovering from surgeries. Just because your scared of them doesn't mean evryones an addict. Notice I wanted codiene for a cough I can't control not to mix with koolade. Oh and I've already gotten antibiotic shot steroid shot and taken a full course of z pack

Wasn't trying to make anybody mad and I never suggested everyone who takes opiates ends up an addict. The problem is that nobody that turned into an addict knew it was going to happen beforehand or they would never have done it. If you've taken them before and are cool with them then do what you gotta do.

Didn't mean to stick my nose in where it wasn't wanted.
