I'll be honest, I just like getting up high where I can see everything. If I feel safe, it ain't a problem at all. The main thing when climbing high is to have a tree that allows it. This particular one was a nice big oak that was 28" - 32" in diameter, and it really didn't reduce much in size all the way up. One thing I typically do when I'm climbing high is to have the bottom part of my Summit at a fairly steep angle, thus allowing me a nice level platform when I get on up there. One of my pull up ropes is 50', and the other one is 45'. Monday, when I hit the end of that 45' rope I knew I was done, and it was just long enough to get me up where I could see a long way like I like. The other thing about climbing high is not have to worry as much about scent control. Don't get me wrong, I still take the usual precautions and measures to prevent getting busted, but it sure helps to be up there. If you can do it safely, and feel safe about it, you should give it a try sometime. You'd probably like it. The particular set of woods I was in Monday was very mature timber, and at 45' up I still was not up into the canopy, which allowed me to see a good ways.

Jesus... I hope you know Him personally like I do.

Could you see the Space and Rocket center from that high?

Congrats on the deer. If I had to climb over 15 feet to kill a deer, I would never have killed one. To say I don't like heights is and understatement.

15-18 is nosebleed for me. But 10 is a tad low. I got a couple 10-ft ladders I've kilt em out of. I don't want to be up there where I can see the miniscus of the earth.
