I shoot Hevisteel number 4s or Remington nitro steel numbers 4s. Geese and divers like canvasbacks I go up to number 2s

I like Fiocchi silver steel in either 2 or 3 shot, depending on where I'm hunting. They pattern well for me and put the birds down.

Also reasonably priced at $15-16 a box.

All around #2, when I lived in Maryland and hunted big water for Divers and Seas ducks I used BB's.

I found a bunch of Remington FastSteel #2 at Wal Marks for $5 a box a while back, so that's my new favorite.

Kent faststeel number 2 or 3. 3 if I'm hunting brakes and 2 for hunting big open areas.

My gun has always shot Winchester Xpert #3s very well. They're cheap. But I'm shooting through a case of Remington HyperSonic #3s right now and I like them too.

One of my vendors dropped off some cases of hevi-steel #2's. I shot about a case of them last year and liked them. Shot another case of hevi-metal #2's and couldn't really tell much difference in the two.

Black Cloud Snow goose loads at 1635 fps can't be beat unless you go to Hevi...

3" xpert #2 for geese and big water.

2&3/4" xpert low brass target loads in 7.5 for teal, woodies, and mallards in the timber.

Buy a few different boxes of cheap shells and pattern your gun with them at 30yds. Shoot whatever patterns best. I like 2s for an all around load.

Unless it is lead or heavy shot, you are waiting your time shooting more expensive stuff.

The cheapest I can find... I concur with Atoler's comment above. I also have got some steal on remington's past cpl years with their rebates. Ended up with some nitro steel for $7/box once I got the $10/box rebate checks (4 cases worth).

Then again, I shoot an old 835 and everything flys good out of that overbored barrell and stock mod choke.

Out of SBE with IC choke. In order of preference.

Fed Red box Ultra shock, #2 or #3

https://www.rogerssportinggoods.com/ammu...-gauge-3-1.html

Remington Nitro steel in #2 or #3

https://www.rogerssportinggoods.com/ammu...n-1-1-4-oz.html

The relatively new Fioochi 1 1/5 oz (sometimes called Warlocks) are a great load in #2.

Kid likes Hevisteel.

I went back to an old fixed choke gun and am shooting Kent Bismuth and 2 3/4". And shooting it in my steel capable gun too. Biggest thing I like is that the (percieved) recoil is about 1/3 of steel and that is a BIG deal to me with my rebuilt shoulder.

The Bismuth is way more expensive that steel, but I don't shoot 25 rds a season so no big deal to me.
