This thread on archery talk really made me wonder. The guy it the buck good with a rage. He never lost good blood, but he found it around 1.5 miles away. How many of us could travel that far and cross how many property lines ??? I know the property owners where I hunted would not allow this. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=4448025

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

I’d say only about 10-15% of the folks I track for would know the neighbors or could get us permission to cross lines. I ask on just about every track and it’s rare that someone could. I’d say that 1 out of every 5 tracks involves a property line too. It sucks bad to be working a track really well and have to just call it off. Like the guy said in the other thread….get to know your neighbors. Either that or just track it after midnight.

I tracked a 150" deer out in Bankhead about 3/4 of a mile. Buddy made 2 bad shots one in lower the stomach ripping open his belly and another in the upper leg. Didn't know the shot was that bad so after a hour we started tracking with hardly any blood just a drop here and there and with it turning dark made it even more slow going. We jumped the deer twice but was able to stay on track and after an hour or so managed to see it bedded down in some thick cover. We backed out about 100yds and waited for him to die. Finally with what seemed like forever he finally expired. Then of course we had to drag this deer back out 3/4 of a mile to where he shot him to get our stuff then another mile to the truck. One of the hardest drags I've ever done but the look on my buddies face was worth it. I think he shot it around 4 pm and we got back to the truck around 10pm.

I killed a high 120s 9 point several years ago. Shot wasn't a great shot so i let him lay till morning, I found him 600 yards away, furthest I've ever had to track. Fortunately I was able to get in touch (I was gonna track anyways lol) with the landowners
