You can hunt them at night with a permit from dcnr. The permits are good for certain time periods, and certain types of hunting. Landowner usually has to get the permit.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant to find dear that are wounded at night. I like the iphone app. May need to research it more.

I had one of the ATN-X sights for a while.

I would think that if you were to use that scope during daylight hours, just not have the IR illuminator mounted to the scope, or in your possession while hunting, it would be perfectly legal as defined by the law. The scope is nothing more then a digital camera with a reticle, and has no ability to allow you to see after dark or amplify light with out the aid of an IR illuminator.

That ATN scope had some really neat features, such as being able to record HD video from the view of the scope, and could see it being a pretty neat scope to deer hunt with.

What you're saying is that the Xsight does not work at all in the dark WITHOUT the addition of an IR torch? My understanding is that they work okay, but with limited range without the help of added illumination.
