Industry insider chatter is that YETI is taking legal action and will put RTIC out of business by March 2017. This could get interesting if YETI has not adequately protected its patents.

I wonder if they intend to sue all the other rotomolded cooler manufacturers. If not, why not? What is RTIC doing that the others aren't?

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I don't believe it. Their coolers' design is not patented. Anyone can make it. In fact pretty much anyone does.

Didn't yeti's patent run out last year and enable RTIC to start up?

I'm more surprised they haven't sued more of the knock off cup makers.

I bet if Yeti doesnt win it will be them (slowly going) out of business not RTIC. Half price for the same thing - and now on Amazon - is tough to compete with. If I was Yeti I would just buy them instead.

It's all bought from China with a different label on it.

YETI hasnt really diversified like other companys have. Remember Coleman started out making camp laterns, now they make everything and stock two isles at Walmart.

The cups sold by Walmart under the Ozark Trail line are literally made on the same conveyor line as Yeti. That's part of the reason Yeti cups were hard to find around Christmas because Walmart ordered a few million and demanded their be made first. Yeti is suing Walmart over it.

Yeti products are still nice and have the first-mover and "best brand" intangibles. Those guys built a phenomenal company.

Maybe it was a rumor started to make people afraid of ordering one because of the long wait and not getting it before they closed and having to worry about getting their refund?

You people can keep your yeti coolers and cups. Way over priced. I can buy lots of ice at $1.75 / 16lbs and invest the other $300.00. As far as patents go they are only as good as the paper they're written on. I had a cousin that designed and built portable water well drilling rigs he had patents and the whole 9yrds. Company he was supplying started building them. Cousin sued and lost. All the company did was move the location of the motor.

Say what y'all want but you can't beat a yeti cooler. I've got the cups coolers and huggers. Are they overpriced? Hell yeah. Is it worth it??? I'll take a double out of that yeti cooler chit I ain't driving. Do they make ice? Nope. Do they hold it ? Yes mam very well. You can not argue with or match yeti. If you are too cheap to buy it then enjoy your walmart junk or shut up. And btw at 1.65 a lb you'll pay for that cooler in 1.3 years. Keep a walmart cooler for that long using it damn near every day. News flash you cant.

Yeti isn't going anywhere. People always talk about the price and how ice is cheap. It isn't the ice that makes it worth it. I bought my 65 five years ago. It has been in the bed of my truck or on a four wheeler or boat everyday I have owned it. It is still in perfect shape. Before the Yeti, I had to but a new cooler at least once a year. I have thrown away more coolers with broken kids, handles, hinges and latches over the years then I care to remember.

You guys want to brag about how long your truck last, or your Honda atv. But, have no problem buying a piece of shucks cooler and replacing it every year.

As for RTIC, they are never going to run Yeti out of business, because they can't provide a product in a timely manner.

Toothdoc is right about Yeti also suing Walmart. That corral will be full of hooking bulls.

That, and like it or not, Yeti is a status symbol just like many other things we buy. Some folks won't admit it and that's OK, but it doesn't make it untrue. If it wasn't a status symbol there wouldn't be stickers.
