One of our AlDeer members (I'm not naming him) was hanging a loc-on this morning. Once he got it up he stepped onto it and the platform cables broke and he wasn't wearing a harness. He got lucky and only broke a wrist. When hanging a stand, wear the damn harness and tether off using a lineman's rope. Once the stand is hung, tether off to the tree like you would normally before stepping into the stand and use a life line when you hunt the stand. If you hunt from an elevated stand, it's not a question of if you'll fall, but when. WEAR THE DAMN HARNESS!!!!!

You needed a linemans belt for hanging stands. It leaves both hands free. Some harnesses have linemans loops too. Use it for hanging ladders too !

I'll say this, to see it is just as bad. I never wear mine while hanging a stand. I can assure you I will wear it at all times now. I have never before wore a safety harness while hanging a loc on stand. But i promise you from now on I will have one for sure. All I can say is I'm one lucky person. God fro sure had his hands on me that day. Fractured wrist is all that happened. Get my cast off hopefully next Monday. Always wear a safety harness and make sure you check everything before hanging a stand. I would have never thought the cables would break on a loc on. Boy was I wrong.
