I got skunked this morning. Did a little more walking around and found a better tree for rifle season and a car hood size scrape about 75 yards away. That spot is a definite winner for the rut. Can't wait to hunt it again but I'm gonna stay out of there for another month probably. On to the next bow hole.

Jono a great bowhunter I knew(rest in peace Greg) raked the paths to some of his stands. Just go slow and watch your step. Hunt safe I've done that for years. I use a blower now. Only way off the road though, I hunt public land ya know.

You're call Jono. Congrats on getting a shot. If it was me, I'd be right back in there.

Honestly, I was glad that I saw some deer that close that had no idea I was there in the first week of the season. Made me feel better about what I've been doing. So here is a question, they obviously figured out something was there...should I go back tomorrow or do you let stands "rest" for a day or two? Never had this situation...new to it all.
Another 2 does came in about 45 minutes after, but I never had a shot on them. Its a natural funnel that funnels right into a huge oak...I think i found my spot. at least for now. Go back tomorrow!

Juno Go back and hunt it again tomorrow. You should be fine. I actually did something similar a couple of years ago and shot the doe I gave a haircut later the same day.

Hunt safe and smart. It will happen, trust me there is nothing like getting one close and running a stick thru them. Good luck !

Good luck SuperSpike!
I completely forgot my church fall festival is tonight...no evening sit for me. Ill be back at em tomorrow morning, hopefully in the spot I was in this morning.
Good luck anyone else that is hunting. Don't pull out your insulin pump again. We don't need you passing out up a tree. You better have someone who knows where you are.
Only accurate rifles are interesting.

I always show my wife on a map where I'm going to be and also our club has a pin board so everyone knows where everyone else is. I have stuff on my person at all times, but most of the time it is just safer/easier to go home and fix the problem. Putting my pump back on in the woods isn't the most sanitary thing, but I can do it if it really came down to it.
