Is now a good time to do a mock scrape ? My bucks have disappeared from mineral and corn spots except for smaller bucks and a few doe and one perticlcular doe with her twin fawns born in September. I'm wondering where the 5 big bucks I've had on camera all year . They did the same thing last year . I'm hunting the Acorns but still not seeing the big bucks . Pulled over 12 cards on the acreage I have and no sight of the big bucks out of 1500 pics . Nothing but doe and 4 and 5 point bucks etc

LOL, different food source. Bucks do that !!!! The bucks you see during rut oor now will be ones that live somewhere else. Thats why game cams can drive you crazy ! unless you use scent control with checking cams, you won't see them until next year. You can't be too scent wary when checking cameras. I tried to check mine either before a rain or during. I had photos of bucks that only appeared once !
They don't get big by being stupid. Hunt safe

The only thing bordering me is pine tickets! Now across the road is the same as I'm hunting being Hardwoods . I can hunt that but haven't because personally just don't know the woods . I've been very good about not being in there as much this season maybe 5 times all year .

Your neighbor's corn pile is bigger than yours.

A deers range is in miles, not feet as in next property over. They know where the best crops, acorn trees, water and does are.
Often bucks are killed miles away from the property they live on all summer.

Yep.

Read up on the collared deer study the barners just did (are doing maybe, not sure). It's pretty good and the methodology is sound. Rather mundane and expected findings but a good study still.
