If that's true about 2nd season I'm surprised. I thought they did pretty good. I work with a guy that has used them for a while and had been satisfied with them. I haven't heard anything negative about it. They must not have had the help or wasn't making any money off of the bow service.

They usually only have the bow counter open on tuesday/thursday from 5pm to close. At least the last few months that's been the schedule. With bow season they may have stopped. The owner will cut arrows but that's about it.

lots of outdoor stores have given it up. I'm sure its expensive to run and takes up space. Walter Craig in Montgomery gave it up years ago. People will drive a little ways to the archery dedicated stores around the state

At some point I might switch over to a new bow and carbon arrows, but not ready to make that investment considering I've never even shot at a deer before with a bow.

A couple months ago I took 3 or 4 arrows over to Academy to get them refletched. Also bought 2 new ones and asked they be cut down to 28 inches. Came back a few days later and they hadn't touched the arrows needing refletching and had cut the arrows down to 28 inches but threw away the inserts and then didn't have any other inserts to replace them. They sell the arrows I'm using, but apparently can't service them. In the past when they didn't lose the inserts, they were having to use a cigarette lighter rather than a torch because the company wouldn't let them have a "hazardous torch" (based on what the guy behind the counter said).

Left Academy with my unfletched arrows and bought a couple more new ones still needing to be cut went to Woods and Water. Two or three weeks later I go pick them up. New arrows had not been cut to length. Had Blazer vanes put on all the arrows to be consistent. Now I'm literally having Vanes fly off after one stinking shot. I'm using a whisker biscuit, which I understand can be rough on vanes, but can't be that bad!

My peep sight gets flipped over Saturday morning after walking through the the dried up swamp on the way to the stand. Went by Second Season in Northport today and their bow shop shut down October 15th.

I'm not buying a bow press to fix a peep sight. Going to call Academy at some point today and start the madness all over again.

I live in Brookwood right down the road from you. If there's anything I can do to help would be more than happy to get you taken care of.

Shaw has taught me a lot of things and for a long time he was the only one to work on my bows and build my strings. Over the years I've learned a lot from him and now I do it all at my house. I work at the second store you were talking about also. If I can help in any way let me know. I can probably get those arrows fixed for you with new vanes for free.

Thanks Jeremy. I just posted an update regarding Woods and Water. They really did me well. Still not sure what the problem was, but it's behind me now (hopefully). PM me your contact info if you don't mind.

That's what I understand. Spoke with them about two weeks ago and they encouraged me to bring anything in any time. Spend 10 seconds in there this morning being told their bow shop wasn't in operation anymore.

Who told you that?

Girl at the front desk. Don't know her name.
