I saw flagging on my west line last trip up and got the call yesterday. The 210 AC which forms my entire west boundary is being completely clear cut. Absolutely beautiful old woods, 70% Hardwood with tons of White Oak.They are taking the Hardwood now and Pine later due to quotas.Of course with a mile of line they put their dam loading dock 100 feet from my 3 ac corn/bean summer plot. It will be a great thing for the deer hunting for the next 10 years or so but really hurts losing that much prime turkey habitat. My only consolation is that based on what I know about who they used for the cut, they most likely got bent over bad.

And you know that loading dock on the property line will turn into their favorite green field to hunt. If it backs up to your nice corn field!

At least they didn't choose to use your corn/bean plot for a loading deck. One of our best tracts has been whacked and stacked for the past year.

I would actually love it if they put a big green field there as it would keep them from crossing onto my place. My fear, and what I would do if I was them, is keep clear a 30 foot lane along the fence after it grows up and shoot them crossing to the crops from the bedding.Unfortunately my only big ag field is along that line.

It is also gonna be really hard to be an ethical hunter this year early because I bet every deer in 3000 ac will be in there eating all the acorns knocked off the trees when they get cut and I will be able to see a huge chunk of their land from an existing stand.

Looking at their land isn't against the law, but hunting it is!

I will be a good neighbor and just watch. Got a 50% chance they will cross my line anyway.

Right now it is hard to get rid of hardwood pulpwood, tight quotas and the price has dropped again. I talked to the Browder hardwood log buyer and he says the market is very poor, they don't want the south Alabama hardwood for veneer face wood, it is just peeled and used for filler material and they use northern hardwood logs for the exterior.

Yep, somebody is buying it. They are cutting 150 acres of hardwoods at my camp too.
