Here's a weird kill for ya. I was sitting in a tripod on a hilly powerline. Looking uphill to my right you could see close to the woodline but a hill blocked the center of the powerline, then you could see pretty good o the left side. A doe ran out of the woods and I set up to shoot up hill as a good buck crossed the low area next to the woods and got behind the hill before I could shoot. I moved the rifle to the edge of the hill just as the doe appeared, followed by the buck.
The buck was facing to the left, I was shooting at his left side, he was in sage brass that was mid body high for me. I held on the shoulder and fired my 7mmRM at 250 yards. The buck was gone when I could see , but the doe was standing there looking where the buck had been. I was sure he was dead so I went and got the gator to drive around and get to his location, it took maybe an hour to do so.
A buddy and I load the buck and I'm looking for the entrance hole on his left side. Can't find it. We roll the deer over and there is a nice entrance hole on his RIGHT side. Roll him back and find the bullet just under the skin on the left side. The bullet entered the Right side and penetrated to the skin on the deer left shoulder. WTF????
I ain't figgered this deer out till yet. How in the hell did he get shot in the right shoulder if he was facing to my left? DamnifinIknow......

They're speedy quick, man. Haven't you ever heard about deer jumping the bow string? They jump 8 feet high, whirl in the air and are gone before the arra fletchins leave the whiskerdoodlebiscuit. Your buck heard the trigger sear and hauled ass! LOL

That's crazy. I don't know Troy. I've ended up shooting a buck in the ass one time. He was so close, he filled the scope up. He was about to haul ass so I has to shoot quick. I aimed at what I thought was his shoulder but it evidently wasn't. Still he fell right there and I got a kill shot in him within seconds. Screwed them hams up though. This was with a 12ga slug gun.

The buck reacted and spun around. You close your eyes when you shoot , because the bang scares you ! LOL So you didn't see it spin.

Somebody else shot him, right when you did, you missed and they didnt. Fred, I think you have a hunting guardian angel... this MAY be true....except I still don't get that "miss" thingy......

Little different, but I shot a deer with a 223. Deer was facing left, shot him on left. . The deer ran 150yards with a fist size entrance with actual lung pieces on ground(only time out of hundreds that I have found that) exit hole the size of the bullet caliber on off side. Exact opposite of what you would expect except I have seen the bullet go in with a small entrance and catch under the skin on the opposite side lots of times.
