No doubt you can find a snake boot that is comfortable and doesn't leak. BUT how are we to know if they will actually protect you from a snake bite? Has any of you ever been bitten on a snake boot or know of someone that has?
I see several videos on YouTube of companies testing snake boots with little tiny rattle snakes. But those snakes are puny compared to what I have seen and killed in Jackson County AL.

I got bit in 1985 by a five foot Timber Rattler in Greene Co. I was wearing Lacrosse Grange rubber boots, both fangs went thru the boot, one went into my calf. I had only minor swelling and redness, it was pretty much a dry bite.
I got a pair of Gokey Bullhide snake boots the next week. I stomped a three foot Cottonmouth a week er so later, taking numerous bites to the ankle/foot section of the boots. None of the bites got thru those Gokeys.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

that would be them.... they are heavy, nonwaterproof, but a 20 foot rattler couldn't go thru them....

I'm reading reviews ... folks say buy them once, wear them for a lifetime. Considering how much time I spend in Johhny rattlesnake's kitchen I might just save up my cash and get a set. It would be worth the $500 if they really lasted a lifetime. I'm 54 years old and my foot ain't gonna grow no mo ...

I wore the Chippewa snake boots for about 7 years. Look just like the Gokeys but you can get Goretex liners. I retired them when I finally wore through the liners and they started leaking. The boot itself is still fine, I just can't stand wet feet. Did you ever get bit while wearing them?

The only time I ever got struck, I was wearing snake chaps.

Had a friend step over a fallen down tree and a timber rattler bit his boot. He was wearing rocky snake boots, and all was good. How big was Johhny rattlesnake?

I did but wasn't wearing snake boots. It was painful, expensive, and I don't suggest it

They are as heavy duty as they come IMO. They weigh a lot more than a average snake boot due to the leather/cordura. You could probably take one off and club a snake to death pretty easily, especially if you get the steel toe model

I have some of the Lacrosse snakeproof boots but still would like Gokey or Chippewa. My dang feet are wide and weirdly shaped, though. If I ever get any leather or Cordura-leather boots they'll probably have to be custom fit.
I was getting ready to go to south Texas a few years ago to turkey and hog hunt. Asked a friend about the property because he'd been there and if he had seen any snakes.
"They're so big there they strike above the knee. Your boots won't matter."
He was kidding, I think.
