But after I got one, it was the best money I have spent. Love making deer jerky on it. The built in temperature probes are nice too. Don't have to keep opening lid to check your food. Traeger is the only pellet smoker I have had experience with

tpageal Basket Rack Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 2,099 N AL	I got the renegade elite a couple of months ago and love it. I've not used any other pellet smoker/grill so I can't speak to those. I've used it to cook a lot of food since I got it and it's awesome. The Treaeger pellets can be pricey. The B&B brand at academy are a lot cheaper and the reviews on them were great. I don't regret buying the renegade and thought I would after making an impulse buy while watching the informercial on one of the hunting channels.
