Should the TD have counted?


LSU got called for an illegal shift right? So the rule states that the clock will start on the snap since there is no 10 second run off? Did LSU get hosed?

I'm not for LSU by no means but I don't understand the call. Play clock starts at the snap and he was in bounds when he caught it. Maybe someone understands it better than me.

I'm not advocating for either side, I just really don't understand the rule. I don't know what the refs were supposed to do. I copied the picture of the rule from another forum so it may not be accurate.

On a live ball penalty, which an illegal shift is, the clock starts on the set whistle, not the snap.

Do I think they got the snap off? No, but I also don't think that the refs at a camera angle that allowed them to see that they didn't, and the call on the field should have stood.

According to the rule on an illegal shift the refs are supposed to blow the play dead at the snap and the defense can choose a 10 second runoff. So it looks as if LSU should have never gotten the opportunity with 1 second left.

Where are you getting that rule quote from? In college an illegal shift is a live ball foul. Answer me this, did they wait for the play to be over to call the penalty or wait for it to end?

None of it would have mattered if LSU haven't have wasted so much time the play before. That is what is going to send Lester packing. Besides the piss poor performance on offense with world class athletes.

I think he'd probably be a good fit on the Xs and Os standpoint, but he's at a radically liberal private university. Honestly, I don't believe he'd jibe well in the Southeast with some of the fans who still think black men shouldn't be head football coaches. Plus, he played at Stanford. If he ever leaves I think it'd be for the NFL.

The ref said the clock would start on his whistle but he never gave the signal for the clock to start nor blow the whistle. I thought the play should have stood.
