As a avid deer hunter I have always used Camo (realtree etc) I guess just because it's what hunters do, The older I get the more I question why I do things I do and have done. I am in need of some warm comfortable cloths for the up coming deer season. I am thinking I may just buy me some wool plaid flannel shirts, jacket and lined carhart jeans ect. Seems to Me the high tech Camo has got way too expensive, plus I have a hard time finding it in big and tall sizes. Just something I have been thinking about. I thought it might make for a interesting topic as I am sure every one has their own ideas of what works for them.

Wear whatever you want to and get a ASAT leafy suit to put over it. Last camo you'll ever need.

I buy what ever is on sale that looks like it might blend into my area. I like to shop after season for bargains.
The leafy suit is a good way to go. Two different suits would cover all the bases. A feller can get one with some green in it for early fall and turkey hunting, then a larger one with more browns or grays to allow for more clothes underneath for winter. You can then wear a blue snow mobile suit or shorts under it and be well dressed.

I wear camo because I like it not for the concealment.I hunt high in the trees so camo isn't an issue.Scent control and the wind is what I pay more attention to than anything.I wash my clothes in Pine power and baking soda and store them in a large plastic container with a pillow case stuffed with cedar shavings.I shower before every hunt and mist down with baking soda water before I get out of the shower. The whole camo thing is a massive marketing ploy because the companies know that we as men are visually motivated and we don't for the most part think deep into hardly anything. If we did sit back and analyze the whole deer hunting situation we would realize that a deer's nose is the most powerful sense that he has and concealment from that one black round thing with two holes in it is much more important than concealment from the two brown eyes right above it.I have been walking to my stand and had deer stand and look at me just because the wind was blowing from them to me and I had not yet entered their danger zone.$.02

If you can tolerate being looked at like a goober from all the other hunters, then do it. Because that's REALLY what the issue is here. Same concept with fishing equipment and lure colors. They make 1,762 colors of worms, when frankly you could use one color 95% of the time. It is to sell hunters and fishermen, not fool deer and fish.

I just bought new military BDUs because the ones I was issued twenty five yaers ago finally wore out. 12 clams per piece.
Half the time I don't even wear camo - just sit still.

I'm glad deer don't see what clothes I got on while I'm sitting in my truck with the rifle out the window propped on my mirror.
