I plan to have a pole barn built soon...wood post with metal trusses. It will be a 30 x 60 with a 20 ft lean to on each side. The 30 x 60 will eventually be closed in with metal. I am leaning toward insulating the roof with roll insulation between the metal and purlins. I am thinking that the lean to's will also need to be insulated mainly for condensation. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? By the way...I priced spray foam on the 30 x 60 roof. It would cost around 3500.00 and I would have to paint it if I didn't want to see that ugly orange color.

I got a 48x60 I am starting today and a 40x48 starting Monday. Both will be insulated with roll insulation. The 40x48 has a 12x48 lean to on each side that will not have insulation. The roll insulation is available in a couple different R values.

I used bubble wrap insulation in my 30x60x12 plow barn. It's plenty sufficient. Very economical too.

Bubble wrap is plenty of insulation for us in the south. Now that I built a bathroom in my shop il be staying the night up there when it cools off. My little getaway spot!

Thanks for the input. I priced some single bubble roll insulation today from a local company. It's a 6 ft x 125 ft roll for 150.00. It's supposed to have a R value of 17. I'm not sure if thats a decent price or not. I'm going to try and get some more prices. I just bought 4'x125' (500sqft) single bubble foil insulation on Ebay for $80 shipped.

We put what the contractor called, Double Bubble, in the addition on our shop. It's got foil, mylar, something shiny covering on one side and white on the other. It's tough as nails.

My pole barn will have moisture on the bottom of the tin and drip on everything at certain times of the year. I think that is what he is talking about. Ok, but insulating without an artificial temp change won't make any difference. I'm just picturing soggy insulation that serves no purpose.
