I have had great luck with fawn calls early season on does. I like the can calls and Have a great buck tube but I gotta go downstairs to see what the name of it is.

I am lucky that I have lots of opportunities to see how different calls effect deer while they are in the area. Having said all that, I rarely blindly call outside the rut. I always wanna see the deer and won't call at all unless they are leaving or going the wrong way.

I used to sell calls so I have a bunch. The other one I sometimes carry is a small rattle bag. I find the bag easier to carry than the plastic antlers. But some folks prefer the sound the antlers make better. I think it's just personal preference.

Old model True Talker. Some of these new calls just look plain old ridiculous

The only deer whistle I ever heard that actually sounds like a deer is a Quaker boy buck brawler. My father and I have probably called up 40-50 deer with it over the last 10 years. He's had better success with it than I. He has shot 3 P&Y bucks by grunting em in. The pic in my avatar is one he grunted up but it only scored 121.

grunt call and real antlers ALWAYS go with me. I had a can call but it went in the kitchen trash can where it belonged.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

HS Strut is what I used to sell so I have a bunch of true talkers. Will never have to worry about running out. thumbup You're right about The old true talkers being better than the new ones.

I carry a Primos hardwood grunter and one of those rubber ones[don't remember the brand].For rattling I have the right side of a six and left side of a seven to hopefully achieve the tone of two different bucks sparring. For me calling has worked good over the years and maybe it's because I ain't afraid of trying new things.I call pretty aggressively also which is suppose to be a no no.Key to it for me is I hunt as high up a tree as I can get so as to be very difficult for the buck to pick out when he comes to investigate.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life;of whom shall I be afraid?
