I guess you can't take a Polaris 800 out for a ride in the summer without it over heating. Wife and I were riding around some property today. Of course when we get as far away from the truck at the back corner of the property, the temp gauge comes on, engine starts skipping, and I smell coolant. I Shut the engine off immediately and lifted the hood and see coolant spewing out from the reservoir. I let it cool down for 30 minutes, drink a couple Bud Lights, poor some water in the radiator and we made it back to trailer.

This is the 2nd time it's happened and both times it was during a hot day after riding for approximately 45 minutes. Not pushing the engine. Just riding logging roads. I just had it serviced and they found nothing wrong with the radiator, water pump, ect. Getting kind of pissed now. Y'all got any suggestions?

I'll be waiting till after 6pm to ride this thing until it cools off around here.

I'd be rid of that thing faster than Hoyt goes thru a fifth of vodka.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Sounds like you may not be getting enough air flow to the radiator. Is something impeding air flow like maybe the radiator has dirt in it? Is it a design flaw you think?

You blow out your air filters, main radiator and condenser regularly? And doc that's not normal. You need to sell it or get a good mechanic on it.

U can also do a over ride to the fan and turn it on manually. U shouldn't have to but it's an option to help keep it cooler

My tractor does it when it does not get enough airflow. The air filter and radiator get clogged up with weeds and grass seed. That could be your problem.

Rhino did that just puttering around for an hour or so couple weeks ago- not pushing engine. cleaned the radiator really well and that seemed to solve problem. made sure fan was working as it should. NEVER have problem when the weather turns cool, so I don't know what the real culprit is....

It's a 2012 I bought used and it's had zero problems except this. I don't see where the temp gauge has a number. I'll have to look for that. And yes, the fan comes on. Don't think it's getting clogged with grass or weeds because I'm riding on a road and I did check that.

It's aggravating because I know we have work days coming up and I'm gonna need this machine.

Since I have it up here at the house I guess I'll take it back down to the dealer and see what they say.

Janet laughed at you IDOTs about "breaking down" grin

Id change the coolant and be sure the radiator fins are clean. Grass seeds, dirt etc will build up preventing enough air flow to keep it cool.Flush the contaminants out. Check the fan and connections as well as the thermostat that turns the fan on. Im betting it will be something like that.

Bleed the radiator line. It may have an air bubble in it. My mule did that for a while and I finally found the screws to bleed the lines. Now it runs like a top. If that don't fix it I will give you $150 for it. grin

Try putting a new radiator cap on it. Cap may not hold enough pressure.

It's vapor locked. There is a screw you can loosen to bleed the air out. Very common on those 800's
