Need some advice as this is the 1st time I've pulled a tractor on a trailer. Tractor is a Kubota MX5100 4x4, specs say 3620 weight, will have a 925# disk attached and the tractor has a front end loader at 1300#, total rig just a hair over 5800#. Plan on tie down at each corner from the axles with chains. What weight rating should I use on the chains and binders. I have 2 of the lever chain binders rated at 5600# each and was gonna buy 12' sections of chain from tractor supply rated 6600# and use and additional 2 5600# lever binders. I'm hauling this thing in the interstate through Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee for about 100miles and don't want and trooper issues.
Finally deported myself from the peoples republik of Kaliforkistan.

If you don't tie everything down good the highway patrol might get you. My buddy got pulled over the other day and they looked at everything on his trailer. They could have written him up on several things but allowed him to correct them and drive on. He was also in commercial truck with CDL.

I haul my tractor 175 miles one way to and from Savannah,TN from Guntersville. I have two 12 foot 3/8 galvanized chains and 2 binders. One chain goes over the loader arms and the other thru the 3 point hitch arms. The one on front pulls straight down or slightly forward and the one on the back pulls backwards. Binders go on the driver side so they can be seen in the left mirror. I stop a couple of times on the way and check everything. I've been hauling stuff similar to this for 40 years or so, off and on.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

That is how I do it. Except, I put the back chain through the rear wheels. I have never had one move. I do usually run a strap over the implement. Do you have a trailer with brakes? If not leave a lot of time to stop.

Georgia is the one that can be a pain. 4 chains and 4 binders heavy enough to do the job will keep you out of the courthouse.

Trailer has brakes but I'm used to pulling heavy stuff, travel trailer 8750# from California to Bama but this is a first of hauling a loaded trailer. Thanks for all the info guys, think I'll add a couple 10,000 # nylon ratchet straps to the front end loader and disk to makes sure each item is tied down even though they are all attached.

Yup, bought it new. Just a hair over $26,000 out the door and Kubota finance 0% for 5 years. Added another $1200 to the loan for insurance from Kubota cause State Farm didn't do tractor insurance.

Sounds like you have it all figured out. One question though - do you have water in your tires? That adds quite a bit of weight. Good luck with it.

Insured my tractor through Kubota.....I also run a chain across the front part of my cutter and attach it to the frame of the trailer, then I drive the tractor forward till it takes the slack out of the chain. Just another safety measure, if you have to stop quickly, it can help keep the tractor from moving forward.
