Hey guys. Late last season I bought a recurve to play around with. I am far from ready to hunt with it but I am getting "better". As a beginners release aide I had my bow guy install the string rollers like you find on a kids bow (feel free to insert jokes as necessary). I think I am progressing beyond these now and I am trying to decide between a glove or a tab. I am probably opening a can of Ford v. Chevy worms but what say you?

First, Ditch the rollers real quick. It's hard to get a clean release with them. I prefer a cordovan leather tab.

I prefer a glove like the one in the link below. When hunting I just use the cloth glove that I normally wear to hide my hands.

In winter I cut the 3 glove fingers out of a cotton jersey glove and slide it on top of the Damascus glove.

I have something very similar to the one you linked Abram. I will need to break it in I guess. It gets uncomfortable after a short while.

I get a cleaner release with a tab.It's not as easy to pluck the string with one finger using a tab. I also always have full use of my fingers with a tab on and you can put it over any glove in the winter.

My advice would be to try both and decide what works best for you before you get too use to either one. When you get use to either ,the other will just feel awkward. I used a glove when I first started shooting.

I've always used a glove, but I started with a glove. I've never felt comfortable with a tab... it always felt like I had to try to keep the tab from being ripped out of my hand when dropping the string. I'm sure it's all mental, much like the majority of everything else dealing with Trad archery.
