I bought 1/2 dozen of the Easton fmj 340s at cabelas today( all they had in stock). I gave the guy there the measurements to cut them. I told him to cut the arrows 28 inches long. Came home and went to screw field points into the arrows and all went well until I got to the last arrow. It wouldnt screw in all the way. Upon further investigation, I saw that he didn't glue the insert in deep enough. So then I broke out the tape measure. He cut them to 27 1/2 inches long. i wish that if he knew he couldn't perform the task that he would've just told me that instead of ruining the arrows and sending me out the door with them. Smdh

Are you measuring from the saddle of the nock to the end of the shaft? Won't make up a half inch, but it normally adds a 1/4". Have you tried them in your bow yet?

I knew that the fmj would be the hit inserts, so I measured my arrows from the shaft behind the insert, to the shaft in front of the nock, so shaft to shaft. Gave him that measurment and made sure that he knew that. He said ok no problem.

Take them back, they did the same thing to my buddy and they took them back and cut him a new 6. Make sure you try screwing in whatever broadheads you plan on using to make sure they fit too. If they use the tool easton sends with the arrows there wont be an issue

That's why I buy my Gt Hunter's from Cabela's but have my local shop do it. Atleast you didn't take you bow to academy to have it worked on (I have heard horror stories)

sad part about it is that the guy used the tool. But I took them back and got my money back. I'm just gonna get them at big daddy's in Bridgeport cause I work up that way.

And can you get the fmj without the hit insert? Just the standard insert?

nope, the only other insert option is the deep 6 but youll have to change everything over for those inserts. HIT inserts are fine if they get the depth correct by using the tool. Also easton recommends using the broadhead adapter rings but i dont know anyone who has FMJs that uses them. I got mine at Full Draw and had no issues so im sure anyone at a professional bow shop can set them correctly. You may look at the 6mm FMJs, they are 10.6 gpi and have the regualr insert, the spine on those are 330.

I liked the 5.5 over the 6s better myself. The inserts don't bother me so much, just kinda foreign to me. I looked for the adapter rings but the didn't have any. I'm gonna use em I guess if they recomend em. It'd be my luck, first shot would split my arrow.

my guess is that he set the cutter to 28" and they're cut from the end on the nock to the end of the shaft.
