Well just to even the playing field a little I need to put a couple feeders out and have never messed with them.Do you guys prefer spinners or tube type feeders. I will need fairly high capacity as they won't be checked much and need high reliability for the same reason. Some of the tube type feeders look bulletproof but was wondering if it is hard to get the deer eating out of them.Tend to lean toward spinners so I can regulate the amount of corn going out but it has to be reliable and criitter proof. Whats the best , not stoopid priced spinner out there?

I just made a directional feeder using a motor from Academy and a drum, I will set it on blocks and it will throw feed in one direction. Good bucks don't eat readily from gravity feeders and it takes a while to get them to eat under spin feeders. This one will throw it out into a trail or plot away from the feeder.

I sell the Moultrie feeders that are programmable. Sell them for $135 per. If you have hogs in the area, they will live at the feeder.

Try to stay with 12v if you can, the battery last a lot longer ( rechargeable) and they throw the corn further out.

We have 2 1200lb Boss Buck and we fill them with corn the first of October and again the first of January, protein pellets in the summer. We have ordered 2 more 600lb for this year to cover all of our property. You can change from the protein heads to broadcast spinners.

If you use a 55 gal drum and 2- 10 foot 4x4s, a metal lid, funnel and an on time spinner. You can build one that will hold 350# of corn. If you feed 5# per day it will feed for 2mos. The feeder will cost about $200. Corn was 10 cents a pound last year. So $35.00 to fill it. The cost to rebuild an on time spinner is less than $20.00
Moultrie has a kit with a solar cell and rechargeable battery that we have had good luck with also. Paint barrels with rustoleum paint. We have some here in Fla that are 20 plus years old.

Fourth year using these. They use AA batteries. Not one has failed and the batteries last a LONG time. We have them on 5 gallon buckets and have retro fitted our old 55 gallon style feeders with them.

I prefer gravity feeders.

I swapped over to gravity this year as well. I'm interested to see what I like/dislike between the 2. Moultrue also has a "dinner plate" system to swap spin feeders over to gravity

Monarch, quantum digital. Deerfeedertx.com. I buy lower units only and build my own barrels, either tripod or hanging from a tree with a boat winch. Use a solar panel for maintenance free and reliability
