I find a few every year (last 4 years) south of Tuscaloosa.
I don't know how far south you can find them as that's as far as I personally have.
This year would have been a wash I think but someone burned my hunting spot and it made for a few more than most around here found.
I use a crawfish sack - lol.

And frying them is the worst way to prepare them.
If you do find some morels, you better rinse them very well and get all those spores out of them or you will become rather ill. This confirms what I've been suspecting for a long time. You ain't got a dadgum clue.
