You can not step foot out of the boat, with a gun in hand on most of the waterways in Alabama unless they are controlled by Corp of engineers.

Alabama Power is the reason it illegal. The owner everything but the original river channel that was there before they flooded the river. You can get out of boat and it's ok as long as you leave gun in boat. I can't speak for the rest of the river. But between Weiss Dam and Neely Henry dam. You better leave gun in boat. They don't write warning tickets around here.lol

Well that's interesting; guess the GW's had better things to do because they would have had no problem writing tickets. Plenty of blinds in plain site and lots of shooting. Been at least 10-15 years since we used to hunt there but probably did it 50+ times. Heck, we had a blind in the middle of the river on Goat Island right above the narrows and the islands in Beeswax. I even used to just walk down the bank below the high water mark on Choccollocco Creek on LM and set up.
Glad I don't have to do that any more.

My mistake. I was looking at my phone and misunderstood. You are correct and I leave the gun in the boat if I get out to pick up decoys. Most of the time I have used my boat I just pick up decoys while in the boat. This way I am ready when those last two decide to come in when picking up........like they ALWAYS seem to do.

If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

I'm not saying don't do it, just saying on the slim chance you get caught, you will get a ticket lol. Pretty much Corp, tva, and wmas are the only spots you can

I have a barely used Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100 in camo color that I was thinking of selling if anyone is interested. I thought I would do some duck hunting from it but never have.

I tried it for the first time last season and absolutely loved it. Pull over off the side of the road, slide the boat in, paddle 100 yards and slide up into some cat tails or weeds and throw the decoys out. I use an Otterbox Stealth 1200. I have a Momarsh layout seat that I throw in the bottom of the boat, pull the blind up over me like a blanket and turn pretty much invisible. I didn't even use decoys during September goose season last year. Just scout where they're coming from and where they're going to and find a spot to set up under them.
