Trump should use that as an add.

I've worked at Publix for two years while in school at Auburn and it's very true.
I hope eventually EBT has a massive overhaul to eliminate junk foods and premium meats.

EBT should be for rice and beans but then that doesn't buy votes like ribeyes and lobster.

Wife and I both work. Our buggy has looked like the one on the left many times.

Working in a grocery store certainly is a good way to experience a wide range of age and socioeconomic examples. I've seen the food stamp queens buying expensive stuff, and also the boxes of powdered-processed-"cheap" foods. Old folks pinching pennies having to put back a certain item or three because their budget was too tight for that "luxury" meat that nudged them a few dollars over. Smart folks with coupons nailing almost $1,000 worth of food for $350 or less.

My mother and step dad are in the grocery business and I have helped them many a day when they run their Friday one day sales. I couldn't do it day in and day out. The "foodstamp queens" who I have literally had tell they buy hamburger for their dogs because pet food isn't covered. Then the next customer is a 80 year old couple who have worked hard all their life with their scratch pad where they are adding up every penny to make sure they don't go over and putting items back when they do. One infuriates me and one breaks my heart.

My buddy was in line at a store and had a democrat on food stamps in front of him in line. The cashier told the dem that he couldn't buy dog food with food stamps, so the dem went and got a t-bone steak instead.

What's being said here isn't at all surprising. Having seen it in action for 2 years or so.
Thankfully working at a nicer store keeps away a good bit of the riffraff.

There are two issue here as well. The obvious is abuse of welfare programs while those who work can't afford many groceries. But the second is something we've all seen: many EBT or foodstamp shoppers buy REALLY unhealthy foods. The cycle of bad choices just keeps going.

Cakes, candy, soda, chips, ice cream are totally normal.
Healthy foods are the exception not the rule.

Should be no Food Stamps. Anyone who cannot afford food should be provided every month with 30 days of MRE type meals. If they want goodies they can go get a f'in job.

I've worked nearly continuously for almost thirty years now. The few times out was out of work I just lived off the money I saved while I did work. I have never known it any other way.

Someone go tell Michelle Obama to make them (EBT people) eat the same crap they feed our children in school.

I have said for a long time that if you are down enough to need assistance from the government the accommodations should be similar to a hotel. They should be spartan, Basically a bed and a couch. No EBT cards but meals are provided in the hotel cafeteria. Transportation should be made available to them to schools and trade schools. Drug testing every month. Can only be there for 12 months.

Think about the money from the section 8 housing, actual housing projects, and savings from EBT waste.

Hunger and crappy homes would be a much better motivator to better them selves than what we are doing now.

I love my country, but don't trust my government.

I see it everyday. It's sickening. We have this one big fat, white ,messican lover that comes in the store once a month and buys her dog a $46.99 sheet cake on EBT and not a thing can be done about it.

I've posted this before, but a few years ago, I saw a woman, either Guatemalan or Honduran in Wal-Mart. She seriously had 2 babies wrapped up in some blanket strapped around her shoulder, and another toddler in the buggy. Her husband was with her not helping with the kids. This lady had a BUGGY FULL of food. I'm talking cheerios, all kinds of canned vegetables, milk, tortilla bread, and some kind of steaks. Neither one of them spoke a WORD of english to each other in the check out line!!!

She pulled out an EBT card, some other card with Alabama on it, and some kind of weird looking check and paid for all but 5 dollars of it. It amazes me that anybody born and raised in the USA finds that acceptable, but there are millions of tax payers that will vote to keep whatever she had going on our dime.
