Ive not been sprayed with pepper spray but I have but shot in the face with bear spray. IT SUCKED.
I was on kodiak island with some of my guide buddies after a long guiding season. We went to a buddies cabin on Amok Island just across the inlet from Larson Bay. We had been drinking most of the day and beside the cabin door was three air horns. They are used to scare the bears away. Well, to our surprise one of three air horns was actually bear spray. I was blowing an air horn and another guy grabbed another can to blow that air horn and I got a solid hit in the face of bear spray. I don't recommend it to anyone.
I can't relate but I've been told from a few guys that have been hit with both pepper and bear spray that bear spray has more "burn" than pepper spray. I have no plans to find out.

Worse one I can remember was a naked guy showing his butt in Summer and fighting with officers. he was sweating so those pores were good and open when they sprayed him in the face. As sweaty as he was though when he stood up it just ran down to his nakedness. When I got to the jail for about twenty minutes all I heard was serious yelling "My d*^&s on fire". A few times he gave us "My balls are on fire"
In case you are wondering open pores from sweating make it worse. The sweat just carries it to other parts of your body.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

The guy that sprayed me was a marine and he also had to be certified to be able to use pepper spray. He is one of the guys that said the bear spray "burned" more. Like I said I have no idea and have no intentions on confirming what I was told.  I guess it would be easy to find out the ingredients but I've never tried.

Nah - I'm good. I've hit myself with a little windborn spray from hitting a dog with it. It makes even the meanest dog stop, drop and try to rub their face off.

Much bigger dose than a certification "squirt". I've been through certification with 5 different agencies, CS, CN, and OC. Application has ranged from the "gas chamber", to under the eyes with a q-tip, to a full-face soaking! Also been sprayed accidentally twice. I wouldn't say that between the 3 types of irritants I've been certified with, that there is one worse than the others...they ALL suck! Some people say it doesn't affect a heavy smoker, but that's not true, either...it affects them differently, but it does affect them.

I have been sprayed several times. I was a certified "pepperspray" instructor, responsible for teaching pepper spray use. I lobbied for , and got, the need to spray folks removed from the training. No need to spray me to make me understand how it works. They didn't shoot my ass in firearms training.....
I hate that stuff, feels like you dipped yer face in boiling oil, snot and crap run out yer face in sheets to the ground. And when you take a shower later on it starts all over again.
"Most" of the time it will knock a bad guys dick in the dirt right now. I did see a Jefferson Co deputy take a burst in the face, run 20 er so yards, and shoot the hail out of a target with his handgun....so not 100% stopper on everyone everytime.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

These sprays have oils in them, right? Instead of water wouldn't milk work better as an initial face/body wash to help remove them, similar to getting a drink of milk after eating a hot pepper?

I saw a deputy sheriff spray some on a sandwich and eat it one time. Watched em spray a bunch of new officers. My eyes beat up enough. I don't think I could take it.
