I have a friend that is in a hunting club in Illinois. He's an Ill resident. If I were to join, would I be able to get permits for archery, firearm, AND muzzleloader seasons if I was willing to shell out the dough? Would I be able to take more than 1 buck? And how about turkeys/limits?

Thanks!

You have until August 19 to apply for the third lottery for a deer permit.

Turkey draws are in January/February and are on a county by county basis. Some counties are easier to get than others. There's no technical limit on tags. But you can only get one tag per lottery and the likelihood of you getting 2 is very slim.

Turkeys be damned.

How much does an out of state license for IL. cost? I went the the IL. DNR site and saw $35.75 for a 5 day license but then below that I saw a $450 archery permit application.

Does anyone know if you have to do the application or can you just buy the license?

Thanks all. So just to be clear, can one hunt all 3 gun seasons on one tag - or does that take 2 tags (firearm and muzzleloader)? Also, are these tags guaranteed? Meaning, can one be 100% certain that he could hunt archery and all gun dates? I'm not looking to join this year - maybe next. The property is in S. Illinois - not W. Illinois if that matters as far as tag draws.

Thanks again.

This was sent to me yesterday from Illinois DCNR regrading deer hunting with firearm.
Nonresidents will need 3 things to hunt deer with a firearm or muzzleloader in Illinois.

1. Deer permit. We are currently in the third (final) lottery. You can apply online to be included in the lottery. Deadline for applications is August 19th. If you are not drawn you will receive a refund.

We will also have county specific remaining permits that go on sale October 18th at 8:00am on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost for an either-sex permit is $300.50. The cost for an antlerless only permit is $25.50. Permits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. You can purchase this over the counter at a license agent location, by phone (888-673-7648) or internet at www.dnr.illinois.gov. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by phone or internet permit purchases.

You can only harvest two bucks per year regardless of the type of permits held.

2. Nonresident Hunting license. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1980 is required to have proof of a hunter safety course in order to buy the hunting license. We offer two options: Annual - $57.75 or 5-day - $35.75 starting on the date you specify. The 5-day license cannot be changed once they are issued. Be certain about the start date, or if subject to change, buy an annual or wait until just before you come to hunt. You can purchase this over the counter at a license agent location, by phone (888-673-7648) or internet at www.dnr.illinois.gov. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by phone. Internet purchases are printed by you.

3. Habitat stamp. Required for all deer hunters 16+. The cost is $5.50. You can purchase this over the counter at a license agent location, by phone (888-673-7648) or internet at www.dnr.illinois.gov. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by phone. Internet purchases are printed by you.
