This was sent to me yesterday from Illinois DCNR regrading deer hunting with firearm.
Nonresidents will need 3 things to hunt deer with a firearm or muzzleloader in Illinois.
1. Deer permit. We are currently in the third (final) lottery. You can apply online to be included in the lottery. Deadline for applications is August 19th. If you are not drawn you will receive a refund.
We will also have county specific remaining permits that go on sale October 18th at 8:00am on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost for an either-sex permit is $300.50. The cost for an antlerless only permit is $25.50. Permits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. You can purchase this over the counter at a license agent location, by phone (888-673-7648) or internet at
www.dnr.illinois.gov. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by phone or internet permit purchases.
You can only harvest two bucks per year regardless of the type of permits held.
2. Nonresident Hunting license. Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1980 is required to have proof of a hunter safety course in order to buy the hunting license. We offer two options: Annual - $57.75 or 5-day - $35.75 starting on the date you specify. The 5-day license cannot be changed once they are issued. Be certain about the start date, or if subject to change, buy an annual or wait until just before you come to hunt. You can purchase this over the counter at a license agent location, by phone (888-673-7648) or internet at
www.dnr.illinois.gov. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by phone. Internet purchases are printed by you.
3. Habitat stamp. Required for all deer hunters 16+. The cost is $5.50. You can purchase this over the counter at a license agent location, by phone (888-673-7648) or internet at
www.dnr.illinois.gov. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery by phone. Internet purchases are printed by you.
