“To support that effort, I am making contributions of $1 million each to two organizations, the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s newly established Institute for Community-Police Relations and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. The Institute for Community-Police Relations’ policy and oversight work is focused on building trust and promoting best practices in community policing. My donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the nation’s oldest civil rights law organization, will support its ongoing work in support of reforms that will build trust and respect between communities and law enforcement. He was criticized today by a black reporter for doing this, proving that some folks just want to bitch and complain.

Jordan probably has quite a bit of experience on both sides of the fence with this issue, and moreso since his father was murdered by a POS thug. I'd consider his life experiences with a bit more depth, more than someone who's never been out of their whitebread neighborhood into the hood or gotten out of the hood into a comfortable lifestyle.

This just goes to show that he is truly a man of character.

It's a shame he didn't also mention how black-on-black crime is more prevalent than any other type.

If some of these high profile black athletes and celebrities would discuss and forcefully denounce the black-on-black crime, birth rates and jobless rates - and encourage more action to overcome those - it might help.

Might is the key word, though, because they'd be shouted down for speaking the truth.

The reason I asked about your skin color was because you referred to "racism directed at persons who have done more for OUR culture," and I was going to ask if you meant "our" as in your and fellow AA culture, or "our" culture as a whole country.

Nah - I'm a whitey. I was born and raised in the Caribbean islands so I suffer a pretty severe form of culture shock in most of this region.

When I say OUR culture, I mean the culture of humans. When I see that stated in this forum, a lot of times it refers to something else - an "us against them" theme usually based on race.
