Along PC, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and such waaaaaay too crowded, commercialized and pricey for what you get. Just got back from St Augustine Beach, much better, less folks, less kids, more laid back and water much better. If you're from the Myrtle Beach area , you're prolly gonna be very disappointed. From the little I have seen the beaches here are 1000x better than MB or the whole MB Grand Strand for that matter. Too many hotels, too much beach erosion, too many people, too much BS in MB.I moved to Maui in 95 from MB and it wasn't a minute too soon, if you ask me. I am tempted to move down here. Thank you all for your advice, comments, and kind words. Been many years since I've been to MB ( aunt used to live there)I knew it has become commercialized but didn't know it had a beach erosion problem. Those are the two things I liked about St. Augustine Beach plenty of elbow room and very wide beach with dunes between the beach and buildings. I guess when you have the second longest coastline you're not crowded. Drove over to Tybee Island the other day when we were in Savannah. Wife said it's nothing but Georgia's version of Gulf Shores. Not impressed at all. Bumper to bumper people on the road and beach.
