I picked up a box of the new Ruger ARX 9mm ammunition today after a recommendation. After watching this video, I think that I will stick to the Federal HST instead.

Federal HST and Speer Golddot are two solid choices.
Look at what is offered in 50rd boxes of quality defensive loads.
Instead of paying $1per round the price will drop to around $.55cents or so.

Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST or Winchester Ranger would be my choices.

The 50rd boxes allow you to actually afford to load up a couple magazines vs buying the small "consumer" sized boxes

In my professional opinion you would be well served with Federal 115 grain +P+. My second recommendation would be Winchester Ranger +P load. I have seen what these loads will do on the human body, both would serve you well.

Agreed. Maybe some black talons if you can find them.

the Ranger SXT is a black talon without the lubalox coating. the T Series is the 3rd generation with a slightly larger & deeper hollow point.

Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!

Ranger SXT's are bad news if you are on the terminal end of them. As are the good old Glaser's.....

I know this is a hot topic and everybody has thier favorite. I also believe ppl make it harder than it has to be.

I would suggest using whatever functions 100% of the time in your gun. AU708 is right about the 50 round boxes. I used to carry Winchester white box HPs. Never had a malfunction in my XD or Shield (both 40 cal). Bc of the price, I could practice with what I carried.

As of now, I have been carrying 155gr Remington HTP in both my 40s and my 38. Like the Win White box rounds, I can afford to shoot them, therefore I trust them. The more of a certain round that you put down range and have no malfunctions, the more you build confidence in them.

Actually came across a deal i couldn't pass up a year or so ago that consisted of good old 9bple for $20 a box(50rds) and also gold dot 115 +p+(50rds) for $22 a box when i was trying to find a few extra gold dot boxes to put up. I couldn't let either one sit on the shelf and collect anymore dust so i bought every box they had. Walked away that day with 8 boxes of the federal and 6 of the speer cause no one else likes the 115 grain that much anymore. Win,win in my book.

This^^

In my professional opinion, no bullet is good for the human body if placed in the right spot. And the best way to get the bullets to go to the right spot is with practice. So, find what works in your weapon 100% of the time and shoot the hell out of it until you can put it where you want it to go every time.

No bullet is good but rounds that won't expand aren't nearly as good.
Expansion and shot placement is the key with pistol bullets.

I will stay with the 230 grain federal HS. Remember a 9MM might expand but a 45 won't shrink!!!

You're right but a 9MM will carry more rounds.
My favorite is the 1911 fanbois and their love affair with their guns.
Ya they're cool but 8+1 isn't
