Someone please tell me again how long deer gestation is? I'm pretty sure I saw fawns in late July last year but I'm not certain about that because I simply noticed they were there and wasn't really anticipating their arrival. So this year I want to watch for them so I can get a more accurate calculation of rut dates.

just remember the fawns will remain hidden and not travel for the first 2-3 weeks, so factor that in also.

Good question. I'm currently living in Inverness, FL and we have seen a fawn 3 times in the last 2 days that no bigger height wise than our Choc lab. Is the rut real early in central Florida? I'm not use to seeing fawns this early in the summer.

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

If the deer is as big as a lab it is last year's deer. A fawn would be smaller than a lab for 6 months.

That wasn't a good comparison on my part because this fawn is tiny. Yes it has white spots. I'm just surprised to see one this early in the summer. I figured the rut was later here in Central Florida. Obviously not though.
