This morning I ran across an Under Armour shirt with a very coolngraphic on the back that I wanted REALLY bad but........it had the slogan De Oppresso Liber in big letters across the back. This is the slogan for the Army special forces. Even though I wanted the shirt, I wouldn't buy it because I felt like if I wore it, someone would get the impression I was former Army, which I'm not and I didn't want to come off as a "poser". I'm as patriotic as the next guy and fully support our military but something in my mind didn't feel right about it. Is it just me? Do y'all feel like it's just showing support by wearing something like that or do you feel it's in a way disrespectful?

I'd really like to hear how some of our former military members feel about it too.

As an Army veteran I don't have a problem with it at all. I think it's great when someone shows support of all of our armed forces. Now if it was an DELTA COMPANY 5 -5 tee shirt and you never was in Delta company that would be a poser.
Proud Army and ALNG veteran God Bless America!

I have a good friend that is a retired Navy Seal. He gave me a cool Seal hat many years ago. I've never wore it even once.
I do wear my Coast Guard stuff though.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

In the past, it would have bothered me a little. But now, I agree with leroy - our military needs all the support it can get.

I see no problem as long as the person wearing isn't trying to portray themselves as military when they aren't.

It's not quite the same but I still have a ton of old Harley shirts from when I owned one and rode a lot. Their cool shirts but I haven't worn one since I sold mine.

Wear away....just be upfront about it if someone asks. Wearing a t-shirt vs going all out and wearing tactical hats, pants, boots and all the other crap I see folks wearing is a bit different.
If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

I think these companies are missing out on sales because of the shirts. They should put something like "I proudly support our Armed Forces"...... on the shirts.
Anyone that has seen me out hunting knows that I always wear some form of military BDU pants. I just love the cargo style and all the pockets. Even though I did serve in the Air Force Reserves for 22+ I don't wear the shirts from other branches, but I will wear the pants. Never really thought about it until I saw this thread. I guess the poser thing is embedded in my mind as well.

Agree that I wouldn't have bought it due to not wanting to give the impression that I was something that I was not.
I understand that not everyone feels that way and that's fine also.

Just Google stolen valor on youtube. Most of these folks have parts of uniforms and insignia, medals, and ribbons they didn't earn. I think most people would have no trouble with a hat or tshirt. It's when you defile the uniform that would be the problem.
