I just bought one a few weeks ago. I've always just used a wrist strap with finger trigger. The thumb release required a new anchor. So that moved my peep and sight pins. But once I got that all dialed in I'm shooting better than ever before.

I'm also trying to use back tension to fire the release instead of pushing the thumb barrel.

Tried a thumb release for a season. My anchor point changed significantly. Killed a couple with it that year, but never could get comfortable. For me, a wrist strap is a better hunting release.

I just recently swapped to a thumb release, while I'm not using it for the back release type of shooting, it has helped me to be more consistent.

I switched to a thumb release several years ago. it seems like it did change my POI a little but not much. I prefer it over a wrist release any day...

I shot one briefly...didn't see a noticeable difference in POI.
on an unrelated note, if you've never hunted with one, I'd recommend wrapping it in tape or something before the weather gets cold. I can't shoot a bow with gloves on and I went to draw mine on a particularly cold day and that thing was like grabbing onto a block of ice with bare hands.
