It is the same ......it has just been voluntary since the politicians stopped it from being mandatory a few years back. It is very easy to complete.

We are working on several upgrades to the system as well. We will discuss them further in due time but it will suffice to say that they will make things quite a bit more efficient.

so that's all you do , tell them we killed x amount of deer and that's it . from that alone they base what you should kill?

Frankie, please fill us in on the proper way to manage a wild deer herd. I'm always eager to learn new things.

Well, first you need to let everyone kill 2 does per day all season long. Do that for 10 years and get back to me and we can work on how to fix the problem we created.

Oh but wait allowing two does per day was limited government intrusion into your life and very liberal, allowing the hunters to manage the way they wanted. I thought that's what you wanted?

I never said its what I wanted at all. Seems pretty "biologically unsound" to me. You can refer to 2dogs answer in the other post about common sense.

What you should do is take a step back..........and realize no one finds you at fault or blame......at least I don't. Even if you are a true believer........it's not you we disagree with or dislike.......it's the reg. So don't take anything I say personal. And hey, it's just a change that many don't like..........they'll be a lot of that for you guys at the bottom of the pyramid at the DCNR in the future I'm sure.

Have a nice night thumbup

You nailed it. That is the ONLY reason. Nobody has provided a quality reason to the contrary. Government intrusion, fake numbers, letting y'all manage the critters yourself is bull crap answers.

to start with you need a base to start with , as in how many are there .

and you have not given a answer of any quality .

you can not manage deer herds from only counting dead deer and this is all i hear .

oh , i keep hearing the word trend . trends can be effected by many things are this other things going to be factored in ?

i'm not closed minded but no one has given reason for me to change it .

Actually you don't need to know how many there are. You need to know a health baseline, a habitat baseline, rate of removal, rate of growth, rate of observation and a some other stuff we biologists like; but know population is not necessary.

And that's the way every other deer herd in the country is managed. Getting on a soapbox about that ain't right cause you don't know a starting point isn't going to fly. News flash, nobody, nowhere knows how many deer are on a given tract. Not on 100 acres or 100,000,000

I'm not trying to be condescending but this is how it is done. This is the best way to manage a resource we all love, some of you just don't like that you're going to have to take a minute and a half to check a deer in.
