Well, my son has only been shooting a bow off and on for a year and half. He's color blind to specific colors, green looks brown, red looks brownish, and so forth. He had a good point today. How will a brown looking pin look on an elk??? He's shooting a 5 pin sight and it's getting on his nerves with wash out and the pins blurring. Gonna try to find him a color he can see pretty good and get him a single pin. Good news, I'm getting one too.
I asked what colors do you see the best and he replied "white and black". Anyone ever shoot white pins?

Blue is kinda purple I think but, everything I've read on the blue says it's more of an indoor color.

He has yellow in his sight now. The green appears a little brighter.

Appears we're gonna go with the Black Gold Ascent Verdict single pin. The pin is green so, Saturday were prolly gonna head to Washington and I'm gonna buy me one. Once outside, I'll mount it and let him check it out. If he seems to like it, I'll run in and buy another. Glad they have a military discount.

Good idea; one thing I learned after bow hunting & killing deer a few times was to leave both my eyes open until I was completely ready to make the kill shot, esp in the woods (where I mostly hunt, out of a tree stand)... If I closed one eye the minute I pulled back to full draw, heck, I'd lose the pins on the deer, esp in low light/shadow situations (when the fiber pins haven't warmed up to full glow yet)... Freaked me out the first few times it happened!!

But, a single pin for your CB son w/the right color choice outta do the trick just right...

I would think that a White or Fluorescent White pin(s) would work just fine with color blindness. long ago I used to shoot a pendulum sight with a single Fluorescent White pin.

That's what I had. I remember dipping it in liquid paper once before a hunt cause some paint chipped off.

I am also color blind and I use a hha kingpin. Look into getting your son some Enchroma sun glasses. There a little pricey but they make most people who are color deficient see colors they have never seen before. My wife bought some for me last year before we went to Yellowstone and it was mind blowing to see greens, reds, and purples that I had never seen before.

He picked the Black Gold Ascent single pi. .019 green pin, not sure what color he sees, haven't asked. He's driving tacks with it though. I saw an ad for those glasses, glad to hear someone say they're legit.

I have the same issue and green is what has the least amount of washout and blur for me. Sucks when I used to shoot 3D a lot and had to count pins.

Learning gap shooting or instinct shooting is also an option. Nothing wrong with sights. I know people like sights, but that way you never have to rely on them.

I always liked a green pin. Post up a pic when he smacks a fat ol elk.

You left off 2 pins... Also the blur/washout issue.

A lil update on the sight. He hasn't had a single complaint. His groups are tight and he seems to be better focused now. His routine is a workout at the gym followed by the bow range. After that he does a mile or so run on a logging rd. 1st part of that is about a 500ft hill I dislike...

Nah, but he's a 6 to 7 day a week gym rat and I think wants to try to out hike and bike me this year. Last year on some 10-14 miles day hunts he was surprised that I wasn't sucking eggs at "my age".

He could just use a bright white pin. Should have no effect on his red/green color deficiency.

I was looking for a white pin until my brain said stop. I realized my target and the 3 primary targets at the range are primarily white. Would have been a cruel joke, lol. We typically get pbb, better known as pacific bow butts targets for cheap
