I am horrible at identifying trees so I need to find out what these 2 are and if they are worth saving. I purchased this land last year and did not get a chance to make any food plots on it and planning some plots now. These are on a 2 acres food plot. There are a bunch of both of these on the plot and in the woods surrounding the plot. I do not want to have to work around these if they are not good for anything. The first pic is what I think is a wild persimmon, if I am correct will they make persimmons and will deer eat them?
The 2nd pic is some type of oak, if correct will it make acorns and be worth saving?
Again I have a lot of these in the food plot to work around bush hogging and disking so if not good trees I will take them out.

Only if you want the benefits of hunting over bait without being illegal...

If I'm not mistaken, a persimmon is like some other fruit trees. For lack of the actual scientific terms, some trees are basically female, producing fruit, and some are male trees that never produce fruit. I think fruit growers have learned to make male trees start producing fruit by grafting branches from a female tree. I am not pretending to know much about this, just read a little on it. You may have to watch this tree a few years to determine if it's fruit bearing or not.

If the top one is persimmon, and it sure looks like it, it is large enough to have fruit on this year, if it's a female. Yelp is right, you can graft a female scion onto a male trunk to turn it into a female.

I wouldn't try to work around them. The bigger they get, the more they will shade out your plot. Especially since you have others growing in the woods, I'd push them up.

Don't worry about the trees. If that is Cogongrass as Sanderson surmised the only thing you really need to worry about is getting it gone.

Cut them down and pull up the stumps. We worked around some like these 15 years ago and now they have shaded the plot and created an big obstacle whether bush hogging, spraying or disking.

A topped persimmon tree won't take up much room, but that oak would go.
