Quck education question ! We made the decision not to plant any summer plots this year. So all of our plots are loaded with 3-4 feet high Wheat loaded with seed heads.and it looks like what ever the other mix that was in the 3way we planted has matured and gone to seed as well. If we wait until Fall and bush hog all the plots will that seed germenate if disc'd under ?

Depends on how much isn't eaten by the critters. The deer hammer the seed heads here at my place along with birds and everything else. I left my apple orchard standing in rye seed heads. I jumped deer up that were bedded in it yesterday. From what I've found, you'll likely get a light volunteer crop come back from the seed. I did a small scale experiment one time leaving the seeds to see how much would come back and got maybe 15-20% of a normal stand. I just look at it like free extra seed.

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll take 15-20% bump in tonnage.

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll take 15-20% bump in tonnage. It's really going to vary. You may get none. The more I've thought about it, I'm probably being a little generous with my estimation of what I had come back.
