idk what it is either but my grandmother used to have it in her yard. hated going out barefoot

Spurweed...I have it, too. Even my dogs don't like walking through it when it warms up outside. You can start killing it once your grass goes dormant...it'll take several applications, stuff is tough! If you're still treating much past Feb., it's likely too late to get it all...by then, it's already seeded, the seeds (spurs) just aren't hardened, yet. They harden when it gets warm enough to start killing the weed back.
