GM - the issue above, common transmission issues, seems there are a lot of issues with their gas engines. known a lot of people that have experienced TONS of electrical gremlins

FORD - I wouldn't touch one of their 3/4 ton diesel with a 10ft pole anymore. Don't know much about their gas burners these days so maybe that would be an option.

DODGE - Frankly, never heard much of anything good about them in the last several years.

that leaves Nissan and Toyota. I've just never liked the Nissan trucks, no matter how much I try to make myself, and you have to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy a Toyota.

I mean, what the crap...

Yup

The Toyota Tundra is a good bit less than the GM.

quick search indicates a 2016 4wd Crew Cab Tundra is upper-40's/low-50's, depending on where you buy it. still absurd.

Gomer I have never heard of anyone that I know if, with a diesel that is, to have any problems with the transmissions. The Allison is pretty good. Now for the gas burner I have no idea.

These days if you can do it yourself it would be best to buy the body style you like, put a cummins motor in it and an Allison tranny and you would be good to go for a while.

I've got 212,000 on my Duramax. If I can get another 100,000, I'll consider it a good one. laugh

Well yeah....I'd love to have an F250 with that combo, but let's be realistic....that's just not practical for a majority of people. The GM Transmission issues I was referring to was with the 1/2 ton trucks/tahoes etc.

If it was an 06 and older avalanche the tanks cones out of the bottom like the pickups. All and avalanche is is a Tahoe/suburban nothings different except the wannabe truck body that's on top

If your going to own a newer diesel, a programmer is a must!! Its critical to keep a check on fuel pressure, egts and boost.

The 24 valves dodges have the same issue as the OP.. lift pump in tank quits, causing the injection pump to pull through it and prematurely wear it out. A set of guages would have exposed the fact of low fuel pressure, saving thousands in repairs.
Also, always buy fuel from a place that sells alot of it so its always fresh.

A programmer would be nice however the always voids the dealer warranty and if something is going to tear up id want them to pay for it.

Then he cut a slightly oversize piece of sheet metal to cover and seal the opening after replacing the pump.

All he had to do was drop the tank

Not according to him or the dealership. The tank went on the frame before the body went on.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
