Ya'know. I'm beginning to think 2Dogs is against this. Lol. Everyone do like me. My goal is a buck and a doe each season and I'm not shooting more than 2 of either one no matter what. Only twice in 25 years of hunting have I exceeded this. Back in mid 90s I killed 5 one year and 6 another.

I don't know what the state is trying to accomplish, other than selling more licenses, more corn, more money at restaurants during deer season, etc. etc. etc.
I don't know who the state biologist are, but there is no way they have data to prove we have an unbalanced deer herd, or over-abundance of deer in large portions of the state.
It's almost like they are trying to wipe out deer in the state on purpose.

10 more days to kill more does (almost 100% of these will be pregnant does) where deer numbers are already down to 1980s levels (according to DCNR biologist). This has $$$ written all over it but not money from hunters as there won't be enough to pay for printing the changes. This has BIG money tied to it somewhere, very possibly Dream Ranch.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

OK, I keep seeing Dream Ranch, high fences, etc. mentioned as possibly the ones behind this. My memory SUX!! I haven't hunted quail in many years. Seems as though I remember for the people releasing quail they had a different season or an extended season. Was that not so?? Couldn't they have done that for high fence operations??

Mandatory game check?? Gonna be interesting how that works. Will you HAVE to have license #? Will the OLD lifetime license # work? As I have said many times, I don't have a cell phone. Will it be set up where I can call it in after moving from the woods?? A lot of interesting things are gonna have to e thought through.

At what point do hunters trying to do the right thing get so bogged down they quit hunting or quit following the rules?

The blame is definitely partially on the Ames brothers. They were missing out on the 10 days they could sell hunts so they wanted to ram it down our throat. I will also tell you it was not anything our biologist for those areas had anything to do with.

No closed season provision for coon and possum. Anybody know when the changes will take effect?

I think the Feb 10 thing is a decoy for the Game Check passage. Brilliant.

On the bright side, I guess it does mean 10 more days of doe rollin'. smile

No, I read that in north zone antler less deer days were reduced to 20 days all season. Nov 19-22 and dec 23-jan 2. I'm not complaining though. I don't see enough deer in north Alabama to justify shooting many does.

Why should I have a cell phone? I don't want to talk to anyone. Plus, I just can't afford one...just like I have never had a credit card. grin

That is not the way I read it. Doe days were reduced in SOME counties in the north but not all. The counties weren't listed.

You can hunt quail on a preserve on in to March. Wild birds ( wish there were some ) season quit last day of Feb. I have said all along high fence people should have their own season, it would help the state and the owners both to make money. Set higher permit fees.
