I know a lot of people on here look for recommendations on places to kill and Osceola so I wanted to post my experience this week. I chose to go with Florida Backwoods Adventures. I would highly recommend the place to anyone wanting to get their Osceola. I had a great time and killed the first day. We had 4 hunters in camp, 2 of us killed the first day and the other two missed. The guy that runs it is Steve "Ratso" Pennington. He and his guides go above and beyond to help you anyway they can. They have tons of good ground to hunt. The food was awesome. Lodging is clean but very rustic, it is in the middle of no where, nothing fancy about that part. Cost is about what all good places are , 2k, if anyone next year wants any more details hit me up. If you want to go and the dates work for you I really don't see what you'd go anywhere else, only and hour south of Orlando , they can pick you up and you can rent a car.
Great bird and exactly what everyone hopes for in an Osceloa. Congrats! I'd like to get back down there for another one day. I killed a nice bird, but certainly no limbhanger
Unfortunately, that's the going rate for using an outfitter and one bird...I believe outdoorobsession recommended Ratso in the past.
Yeah, Thats where I used to guide and film, with ole Ratso.
We went 100% on Osceolas, as ole Ratso HIGHLY manages his lands and only takes a limited anount of hunters.
Hes also one funny SOB and alot of fun to hunt with and hang out with.
Heck, you saw my videos of a bunch of hunts there from my first show, "Outdoor Obsession" where all the Osceola hunts are from there.
I even show ole Ratso himself as he and I call in 3 gobblers right off the roost in the dark that come in and smash my decoys, and he shoots one at 7 yards.
Theres 5-6 hunts from his land on it, and the one where he and I kill at his hunting club nearby.
Heres a link to the video and hunting there:
Ratso is the best outfitter I ever dealt with in guiding and outfitting as far as managing his turkey hunts.
He would be DEPRESSED if someone left without a bird, believe me. Hes still over 98% success after 15 years of doing it.

Congrats Quaken. You made the right choice! Nice bird.
Ole Ratso is quite a charactar too Im sure you saw. Funny as all get out and a dang good cook!
Did by any chance you get to meet any of the Partins who own and outfit on the 40,000 acres next to Ratso?
Roy Partin senior and Roy Partin junior?
Roy sr makes a GREAT custom box call, and Roy Jr is a biologist and a turkey killing machine. I knew him before he went to college and was in high school and he would pile the birds for his client.
