Don't skip a day get a routine and stick with it. Make Sunday your off day eat whatever you want and just relax or you will burn yourself out. I use to workout 6 day's a week when I was in the military once you get a good routine it's easy but if you ever miss a day or two it's hard to get started again. I'm going on 8 years of not working out because I missed a week. I just never have gotten back into it I think about it all the time but that's as far as I go.
Monday - Leg's , Chest ,Light cardio
Tues - Abs , extreme cardio
Wed - Arm's Light cardio
Thru - Abs, extreme cardio
Fri - Back ,Light cardio
Sat - Outside cardio usually a run outside
Sun - Football , Nascar , Baseball, pizza , Beer whatever I wanted

If you've got them by the balls their hearts and minds will follow.

Crossfit is good but as everyone says, "There are only two types of crossfit athletes. Those that have been injured doing crossfit and those that will be injured doing crossfit."

I'm on again off again at work outs. I been working out again last few weeks. I ride the exercise bike at home, do push ups and a little work with Dumbbells. Tweaking the diet this week. Hope I can keep it up next several months. I'm 47 yrs old and trying to lose a few pounds, get a little stronger. My no 1 fitness goal is staying out of the ground in my 50s and 60s. I'd like to weigh 235-240 by bow season. I agree push-ups are a great exercise. May add a few slow jogs a week to mine. I want to be lighter when I see just how high I can climb in that Summit Goliath.

haleyville al,
I'm going for health reasons. I'm 5'11" @255lbs. I want to get back in 180-200 range. My kids is the main reason I'm wanting to loose the weight. I have high blood pressure and diabetes runs in my family. I'm not their but want to reduce my chances. I can't run and chase my 9yr. Old. That was a wake up call.

Stretch very well. More than you think you need to do. Start slowly, build up reps and weight.

Several years ago I was at 300lbs today I am 227lbs. I try to get to the gym at least 4 days a week. Every workout includes at least 20 minutes of cardio in some way or another. When I started in the gym I did high reps and a medium weight 4 or 5 sets of 15reps and some weeks I still do sets like that and some weeks I do less reps with high weigh 5 sets of 5. Cardio and diet is the key and make small changes at first and don't make it miserable for yourself. Cardio can be as easy as a walk around the block or the treadmill. I prefer the elliptical for my cardio with a high resistance and high incline but find what works for you. The Interval training works too and makes your workout intense like others have said I wouldn't start with it but work towards it.

if you are trying to lose weight and you drink alot of soft drinks try and cut those out of your diet. It will make a world of difference. I havent had one in 4 years and my body feels much better than it did back then.

If you are trying to drop weight, focus on cardio. Also focus on your diet (My diet is terrible so I'm not going to give any advice on that aspect of it). Pushing weights has its benefits but cardio will help you tone up and shed weight a lot faster. I like interval training when trying to cut weight. Just starting out I would advise alternating walking and jogging. if you have a track you can star by jogging the straights and walking the curves. Go until you are thoroughly winded and repeat a few times a week. Once you build up stamina you'll need to up the intensity but if you stick to it you will notice results. Just got to find/make time to get it done and don't skip a day unless it is absolutely necessary.

Yep, those things are pure poison. As an occasional treat, probably not too bad, but nobody ought to be drinking them regularly. I work with folks who drink 5 or 6 every day...don't know how they do it.

Funny, I'm the only one that has mentioned anything positive about crossfit. So far, I like it. Also, from years of lifting weights and playing hard I've had (2) inguinal hernia repairs and right shoulder rotator repair. Other than extreme muscle soreness, my joints have never felt better since doing crossfit. Maybe that will change,, IDK?! So far the key is plenty or warm-ups and stretching before and after work-outs. I never did that before lifting. By the way, I'm not nutty with crossfit. Granted several I work out with are,, they live that stuff. I just wanted a change from the normal lifting I've always done and to be in a routine. Since I started my new job, I was not able to consistently get in a rhythm. Now that I'm paying a lot more for the crossfit membership I feel like getting my $ worth. Everybody is different and has their own opinions. I get that, but if you've never done it you can't give a true opinion of it.

No doubt crossfit will get you looking like a Greek statue, but they do have a high rate of injury. You are often throwing around some serious weight with poor form and nobody there who knows better to show you the proper form. A buddy who is an orthopedic surgeon said Crossfit and travel baseball are the two best things that happened to his profession.

start slow and track your progress. After a few months, lift heavy, grunt & drop weights really loudly. Works for me so far.
