I bought a lifetime license a very long time ago too. With what I have to work with, within driving distance of my family, I want the DCNR to give me back some of MY MONEY.

The stupid blanket, daily doe harvest regulations THEY made, have reduced deer numbers where I hunt to the point it is almost a waste of time to go. They got me on the lifetime license, because if there was 1 deer left in Alabama, they wouldn't even attempt to change the '' selling '' point of Alabama's liberal regulations and freedom to kill, kill, kill, wherever, whenever.

Bottom line is folks are tired of watching people kill bucks with big horns and not getting in on the action themselves. These people are all for controlling what their neighbors do in hopes that it increases their chances to kill a big buck.

Last time I checked there is a club out there for all types of hunters. It would seem that reasonable regulations and the ability to join the club that matches your type of hunting would be good enough...

$32 to $50? That comes out to less than a nickel per day over a year. That ain't gonna keep anyone from hunting if they like to hunt as much as me.

Nailed it, its simply a way to get more money, wonder who needs a raise this time!

I'm lost. Doesn't this make your lifetime license more valuable? Like you bought a stock at a low and now its worth more?

I don't see anywhere that it says you will have to pay extra for the tags. They come with the license, which you have already paid for. I'm sure they will mail you your tags annually.

Also, Mississippi raised the cost for the first time in 23 years,... name something that hasn't gone up in cost in 23 years. Its inflation.

Sounds awesome, and exactly like what we need in my opinion

"House Bill 1164 would allow the MDWFP to begin requiring deer and turkey tags, which could help the agency track harvest data as well as monitoring bag limit compliance. It would be a Class III violation.

Tags would be required to be placed on the animal before it can be transported. That means tagging it immediately upon recovery and before it is moved from the spot of recovery.

A first-time violation would be subject to a fine of between $100 and $500, and subsequent violations would bring a fine of between $500 and $1,000. Each deer or turkey found untagged would be considered a separate violation"

All I've ever wanted is for before someone pulls that trigger to think, "Do I want this to be one of my 3 this year?", (if you do,.. let it rip) I think this honestly will do that. The harvest record sheets did not.

What if they don't like to hunt as much as you do? What if they just go 1-2 weekends a year? What if they have a wife and 3 kids that need licenses?
Sounds like a Bernie Sanders argument to say you think they can afford it.

No, I enjoyed every day from October 15 - February 10 that I was able to go. Also, I think 3 bucks a year is a perfect number.

I'm just glad they're trying to hold people to it now

What's that? A 35% increase over 23 years. Sounds proportionate with the rest of the world. See: all the threads about how much trucks cost.

First: as for raising the price for a license a small amount I could get behind that if I actually thought that the money would actually get to where it needs to go like more GW's and predator control but it won't and we all know that...

Second:tagging system would be a waste of time in most cases especially if they don't add more GW's, it will not stop poachers nothing will Heck if i wanted to kill a turkey or a deer today I could do it and no one would ever know, I would never do it but it would be no problem...so you tell me how a tagging system will do anything other than be a pain in the ass to us legal hunters..oh and line some fat cats pockets a little more..

JBC I get that part of it... Ok example of low number of GW's... the last two years I hunted the Oakmulgge WMA..every weekend and a few times during the week for the whole season both years and not once did I see a GW hell I didn't even pass one going down the road..Until we get more GW's a tagging system will not do a thing to help at all..

I know of multiple road blocks in south Montgomey county, Sherriff and GW, pulling over only hunters and checking truck beds for deer and hunters for license and harvest record.

I had 2 GW sitting on my tailgate when I came out opening weekend of bow season, checked my spots to make sure I was legal. Super nice guys.

Maybe they're just more diligent here

That's one county. Statewide, there is a huge shortage of game wardens. Until they can enforce the laws currently on the books, adding new laws will do nothing but waste the time of honest hunters.

Roadblocks to check for hunting licenses and "harvest" records? Seriously?

I'll go to jail before they check my hunting license and harvest record at a road block. You seriously showed them your hunting license and harvest info for driving down the road??
