Anyone using a Black Gold 3 pin Ascend sight? Tell me about them. I'm in the market for a new sight and really like the looks of those.

I'm looking at adjustable as well. Debating the BG single pin or HHA.

Reading the sight in procedues, the black gold is a lot to deal with. You need to have your arrow speed and junk to pick sight tapes from the videos I've watched

It ain't that difficult to select the correct sight tape for your bow. With any adjustable sight that comes with pre-printed tapes, all you have to do is sight in at 20 and 40 yards and select the tape that the 20 and 40 yard marks match yours. To be even more accurate, do it at 20 and 60 yards. You don't have to know the speed of your bow.

The few set-up videos I watched for the BG stated that you needed the arrow speed. Also, this is from Black Gold

"The Ascent Ambush comes with 54 sight tapes included so it will work on virtually any bow. And you won’t have to follow complicated math equations to figure out which sight tape is for you. All you need to do is shoot your bow through a chronograph and pick the sight tape that corresponds with the speed of your bow. It can’t get much easier than that. Once you get your bow sighted in the Ascent Ambush’s zero-out feature allows you to dial to a predetermined yardage without even looking."
That's what I was talking about.

There was more to do but, that stuck out to me since to do that, I would have a 3+hr drive. That sight's still on my list though.

Doing it the way I explained negates the need to know your bow speed. wink

Yep. It works with any pre-printed tape.

Shaw, are they good sights? Would it be posible to use it as a 2 pin and the bottom one would be your long range floater?

I shoot 2 pins now. I like the idea of 2 pins total.

I guess I should just as what sight is the best 2 or 3 pin slider?

I had a single pin MBG a couple of years ago. Very nice sight. Well made. I know they make a 3 pin with the bottom pin as your slider. They can custom make it pretty much any way you want it but expensive. I've never tried a HHA but I know a lot of people on here really like them.

The 3 pin where you use the.bottom as slider is the 3 pin Ascend.

Not sure 2Dogs. I've never owned one. I used their pin sights about 15 years ago. They've always been known to build quality stuff.

If I'm not mistaken 2dogs, I think G5 makes a 2 pin sight. One is fixed with one being a floater. XR2 I believe

I have the MBG Ascent 3 pin and my bottom is the slider. Super easy to set up and very easy to adjust when hunting. I don't ever see me wanting or needing to change from this setup. It's rock solid and is slightly less expensive that the SH.

If you get over towards cullman and want to take a look before buying then just let me know.

I might take you up on that offer, if I'm in the neighborhood. The idea of a 2 or 3 pin with one of those being a slider just makes sense for me. I like the idea you can get 3 sizes of pins,3 colors , 3 lengths of brackets as well as other custom parts to suit your needs.
