Matt and Nighthunter are great guys and represent their profession well , when you ask questions and they answer with the knowledge they have and you don't agree then quit asking if you cant handle it . Nobody on this board is perfect and these guys are very educated and have a lot more data to go off of than we do , I realize a lot of people here are very good woodsmen and spend a lot of time in the outdoors as well but they simply give the best advise they have at the time and because of their answers get beat up pretty bad by people responding negatively towards them , I do feel 98 percent of us appreciate these guys and respect them to the fullest.
Matt and Nighthunter please don't let the minority run you off that's what's wrong with this country .

I re-read the whole discussion on the turkey thread, and nothing there warrants this on a personal level.

However - I completely understand if it's a professional issue / conflict of interest type thing. I deal with that myself because of the business I'm involved with. I have to make certain ethics decisions and I turn things down pretty regular. I got involved in an outdoor industry because I loved the outdoors, and I actually regret it sometimes because of how it limits what I can and can't do on my own time. However providing for my family and our livelihood come first and I understand that fully.

We've known each other a long time Brady but we're in two different shoes. Often when Matt and I are on here we are fielding questions related to work. Time we aren't getting paid for. We are doing it to benefit the people of this site. All to often we are then drug into arguments or criticized for the info we gave whether it be our profei opinions or facts. I can't point to another profession of the top of my head where most folks knows more than the professional.

And it wasn't just that thread, that one topped it off I guess. He needs to spend more time with his wife and 3 kids anyway.

I can think of one off the top of my head. grin

Thus the reason I rarely post responses to legal questions.

You are right there Scott. It isnt worth the trouble is it?

I think Matt felt the same way...he wouldnt post a lot of times just to avoid conflict.
yea and that's the sad part about it, there's no need for conflict. Why can't everyone just get along

This is all about egos, some get their feathers ruffled when an educated person says something they don't like or agree with. Did you act this way in school when another educated person told you things ?
Hell yes I'll miss MATT, remember when he posted fake game pics of bLK PAINTER ! He has a great sense of humor, but he told the truth quick. he was afraid of Montgomery getting mad. He is a funny guy !
Who else would have photo'd a 5 inch plastic figure on an ant bed !!!

Larry have you read the discussion that might have caused Matt to leave? No one got of of line in the discussion. Matter of fact another highly educated person in that discussion with a lot of the same info he and NH have available does not agree with what's rumored to becoming down the pipe with bag limit and season length around turkey hunting. People are passionate about their hobbies. Feelings get involved when many feel strongly the state might be possibly taking the high road and cheap way out to impose new regulations that many feel like will not help solve the problem. Granted it's the thing they have the most control over and least costly to a highly under funded DCNR.

Another thing that has many upset is the state will not share a lot of this information on the subject to help support their decision. It's like top secret information. Supposedly there has been some voodoo model created that predicts the outcome if certain inputs are entered.

I hate Matt is gone personally!! I agree with many on the matter that this site is not what it use to be but the discussion was very civil and no one got out of line. People just agree to disagree with good reason and concern on both sides of the fence.

I sincerely apologize if any of my comments on the other thread caused any offense to anyone, I would never intentionally intentionally offend someone here.

I really felt like the thread was extremely constructive till an hour ago when it went decidedly south.

I have been really impressed with this site compared to others.

I hate to see anyone leave. That never solves a thing and sometimes it creates a bigger problem.

Running a forest products company and wildlife management consulting service demands most of my time. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with people who want to better understand wildlife management principles and practices. My ideal forum is a campfire atmosphere rather than a bar room atmosphere. Aldeer had that trait at one time. These days, too many aldeer discussion threads descend into filthy language and childish drama. If I'm in the minority who feel this way, then it may be time for me to move on too.

No youre not. Dang..y'all dont need to go. We are running slim on biologist these days! I always liked your input and opinion.

A lot of newer people just stirring trouble these days just coming in and spouting off negative comments just to cause trouble I feel.
I dont really understand why.

I put just them on IGNORE to be honest. They are not worth the aggravation.

Answer to the question "NO" he quit, and I suspect he has a history of that.

Rule number one here is to have Thick Skin.

I don't know what got him gone. I don't follow the episodes. Generally the first 10 post on any given thread provides valuable input. After that they tend to get stale or lose the course of the OP original intent. I don't open threads that have 3-4 pages of stuff. 1, I don't have time to play catch up. 2, it is usually someone bashing someone else.

If everyone would would just post what they mean the first time and walk away everything would be fine. I try to but admit I get caught up in the garbage from time to time.

One of the reasons I got out of wildlife management. So then I went to the other field where the lay person knows more than the professional, veterinary medicine.
