Anyone know anything about this boat? The Alweld 1856 Panfish, Father in-law is wanting to buy one and I was just curious..he is getting on up in age and him and the wife love to crappie fish so this boat looks to fit the bill for him..he likes the fact that it is 18ft at the same time is wide and deep for stability purposes..

The front deck looks small for an older person to stand on and bass fish, but I like it otherwise. I love the stick steering. Once he gets in, he won't have to move around, especially if his trolling motor has a remote foot pedal.

Looks like a good stable boat. If he just mainly crappie fishes then that's probably pperfect. What kind of price tag does it have?

He doesn't do much bass fishing anymore and couldn't stand very long anyhow...not sure of the price he is hoping to call today and go look at one.

Be sure to check around when pricing. I bought my Sea Ark $7000 cheaper from one dealer than what 2 others wanted.

Yep. Even if you have to drive a little ways to get it.

X3. Find out where they are made and call the 3 closest dealers.
When I bought my Xpress I asked where the highest volume dealers were.
Boats were built in Arkansas and Louisiana was the highest selling state. I easily beat $2500 less for the same boat compared to Al dealers.

In that case you need to look at how easy it is to get in and out of the boat. Look at how hard it is to deploy or stow the trolling motor for an older person and if he has to get on the deck,he might need a step in front of it.

Alweld makes a great boat. It is a panfish style boat so theres no need for a front deck. Deploying is very easy in this style boat. I have fished from them and had zero issues and could not tell any difference than on my Triton.IMO one of the better Alum boat manufacture out there.

Holler at me and we will go break that bad boy in. I've been on the crappie pretty strong the last few weeks

We will burn that bridge when we get there
