I am thinking about going over there and giving it a try this weekend. I have never been there and was wondering if anyone has any pointers for that area. Someone told me that the deer should be starting to chase over there. Any info i can get will be greatly appreciated.

Hunted near it, never on it. Sometimes chasing by now. Some years a little later. Give it a shot.

I hunted there for the first time last year, I hunted the last Muzzleloader hunt in January, killed a nice 9 point. He wasn't chasing, just on the move. Get ready for some very steep hills and deep hollars.

I have hunted Mulberry quite a bit over the years. As with most public land hunting you really need some knowledge of the land , the lay out most importantly. I would recommend setting up on escape routes. However I was squirrel hunting last weekend and was watching a long power line while waiting on my dog to tree and watched a doe enter and bed down in the power line at 11:35. A couple minutes later a buck entered 50/yards down wind of her and bedded down about the same distance in front of here. I have seen lots of rubs and scrapes over the last two weekends so I think things are just about right down there. Don't waste your time on High Hill road ( aka Taylor's Ferry side ). Food plots are a waste of time as well. You typically don't have to get deep to find deer but you do need to STAY PUT. By 9 hunters get restless and want to head back to the truck. Let them move some deer around and you just might have a great day. There are some really nice looking fresh cut overs off of Theron Wilcut ( tiger mines ) I have noticed but have not scouted, plenty of power lines and gas line cuts also. Good luck, I will be chasing squirrels again myself somewhere else.

Thanks guys for the info. Unfortunately I couldn't get over to scout any this week but still going to give it a shot. I don't really like going in blind but sometimes you have to. I just hope I see a deer. Thanks again guys.
