Ok guys I think I've found the secret to killing a big buck on any given day. It does come with some sacrifice and is not to be taken lightly. In my short 32 years on this earth I think I'm on to something. I feel like I should share it on here in case you may want to kill a big buck this year. I've outlined the steps for easy reference.

Step 1.
Make plans with your wife to go out and look at Christmas lights with your 3yo.

Step 2.
Get off work about 1hr before dark and yell your wife you'll be home soon because you plan to shoot a doe.

Step 3.
Arrive at the shooting house about 415. Don't bother changing from your expensive khakis or dress shirt.

Step 4.
This is where it gets tricky. Have a few does come into the field and against your better judgement decide to pass on then to see what else may come out. Soon and I mean about dark a large buck will appear. Take the shot.

Step 5.
Call your wife and tell her you just shot a nice buck and dint think he ran to far.

Step 6.
Begin to trail the deer and realize that you have good blood. Pay close attention that the deer is running down hill into a the thickest part of the property and towards a beaver pond. This is where you realize that you might should have changed clothes.

Step 6.
Finally find your buck and begin to drag him uphill and back though the hell briars. By now it should be good and dark. This is where you realize you may need some help to get back to the truck, also make sure that your cell phone has zero service should you need to call someone.

Step 7.
Finally help arrives and you get out the woods about 8pm. Your wife will be so pleased that you shot a big buck that she will have forgotten about the plans you made and congratulate you on your harvest. She will not be bitter or slightly annoyed. At this point you are home free right?

Step 8.
Wake up the next morning feeling refreshed and energized. Then proceed to tell your wife you are gonna contact. Artistic whitetails about doing a shoulder mount.

If you follow these simple steps you to can kill a nice buck this year. You can thank me later.

It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.

Actually, if more people would just follow step 4, there would be a lot more bucks at least seen

That's pretty much what happened to me last week. Only I run equipment on the side so I have no nice clothes. Also my daughter is just under 2 and I had mine out by 7. I really think you may be on to something though.

This is very strange. I had plans to take my 2 year old to look at Christmas lights Sunday night when I shot mine.

Note to self...make plans to look at Christmas lights with the wife every day next week.

The # 1 secret (that isn't too secret, but many refuse to believe it) is to not shoot them when they are 1.5 and 2.5 years old. I have no gripe with anyone that kills a 2.5 year old 6 point and is happy with it (except if they are hunting with us) with happy being the operative word. Don't shoot it and then complain that there are no big bucks where you hunt.

Like the biologists preach, of all the factors that affect a bucks rack size, age is the easiest to control and manipulate.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

No no no no. You have to go to a spot and cut trees for an hour with a chainsaw and then sit and wait for him to come sniff the fresh cut branches. Btw, only s true hoss is going to come to this, so make sure you don't hit him in the shoulder with the first shot. If you do you are in for a wild ride.

Step 4 by Dano is definitely a step that alot of people skip......... There is no telling how many people have missed a chance at a deer like that in their life by skipping step 4.
