I think the main thing is that we love others and that we love God. The loving others thing I constantly have to work on, because that is not our natural human nature... grin

In my mind spiritually is seeking God and a greater understanding everyday. Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." The way I have always interpreted that verse is that we should have a spirit of learning regarding God, the universe and the world around us.

In my mind religion is where we accept a certain Dogma and never question it. If there is nothing in the Bible in doubt, then why are there so many Christian sects and denominations?

There are many paths to the top of the mountain, I am taking a my path. I'm not the guy running around telling everybody they are taking the wrong path. grin

You quoted Jesus. How can you believe that some parts of the Bible are the word of God and others are errant? If some of it is false then the whole book is in question.

There is one path. Jesus said "I am the way, the Truth and the life. NO MAN COMES TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH ME." That's it as plain and simple as it gets.

As RH said, we can't create God in our image. He is the potter and we are the clay and he gave us a path to Him. If we try to make our own path it leads to eternal separation from Him.

just be clear from some posts made earlier, it is a common misconception that evolution states we evolved from monkeys (the figure of the chimp slowly turning into a man is the go-to image for many, which is not accurate). This begs the question well then why are chimps still here with us? Based on this, many believe evolution can't be accurate. This is not the case. We are a relative of chimpanzees, etc. (as mentioned earlier we share over 90% of our genetic code with them). we are not their descendants. Chimps and humans share a common ancestor millions of years back in time. Thought I'd bring some light to that.

Atheists believe in small, incremental changes over long periods of time....but they make an exception for the "Big Bang" theory. Why?

I don't know about Atheists, because I've never been one, but I personally don't believe that God and the Big Bang Theory are mutually exclusive of one another either.

The similarities in DNA would be normal considering that we both have many of the same designs and functions. And since DNA is the coded information that ultimately determines how the cells function, you would expect similar DNA between the two. It has more to do with a common designer who created us from the same material with a similar function than it does with common ancestry. Here is a good article that explains both arguments for and against common ancestry with Chimps (although the writer believes in creation, he gives the view points of both sides).

I don't either but neither do I believe that you can believe in God and evolution at the same time. We were either created in God's image or we evolved from slime.

And I'm not saying that we "evolved from slime" either. What I am saying is that I have an open mind about how God did it. Who am I to claim that I know he he created everything? I am but a pilgrim on a journey. grin

And I do believe we were created in Gods image. We are spirits who happen to currently be in a flesh and bone body. I don't believe that God is walking around in a pair of Levis, a flannel shirt with green eyes and a blond beard. In my mind "Created in God's image..." means that we have the same kind of spirit that God has. What else could it mean?

I agree.

Separation, and thus different environments would lead to different evolutionary paths.

There's humans out there that resemble baboons and monkeys. They act like em too. Reckon that's why so many are in a cage?

I don't think God is flesh either but I do think he looks like us. Jesus told us." If you've seen me you've seen the Father." God also appears as a burning flame, so it's hard to say.

There may be, but as a whole I believe they are dark haired, dark skinned and dark eyed.

Oh... i thought we were talking about being created in the image of God and what that actually meant.

I think that's what Jesus looked like too. I think he looked like a mid-eastern man... At least when he was in human form.
